However, this is also the busiest period of the year. July, August, and September are peak tourism months in Bali, meaning dive sites can become more crowded, especially during the early morning dives at the USAT Liberty wreck.
Winds can also pick up more during the dry season, although Tulamben remains diveable most days due to its protected shoreline and favorable location on Bali’s northeast coast.
For divers wanting to avoid the biggest crowds on the Liberty wreck, local guides often recommend either entering around 8 am or planning an early afternoon dive when many of the day-trip groups have already left the site. Afternoon dives on the Liberty can often feel surprisingly peaceful compared to the busy sunrise periods.
November is often overlooked, but it can actually be one of the best months to dive in Tulamben.
Conditions are usually still very good, the sea is often calm, visibility can remain excellent, and crowds are significantly lower than during peak season. Many divers feel that November offers one of the best balances between good visibility, warm water, relaxed conditions, and quieter dive sites.
It is also an excellent month for underwater photography and enjoying the Liberty wreck without heavy tourist traffic. For photographers and divers who prefer a quieter experience, November can feel like one of Tulamben’s hidden gems.
The truth is that there is no single perfect month because Tulamben offers enjoyable diving throughout the entire year.
