KUBU DIVE SITES

Kubu is stealing the hearts of many divers and is probably Bali’s best kept secret at the moment.

DIVING IN KUBU

Kubu village is located just a few kilometers north from Tulamben. Most of the dive sites in Kubu are easy and suitable for all levels of divers, with few dive sites being accessible only by advanced and more experienced divers. Kubu is also home to the newest shipwreck in Bali, known as Boga Wreck.

BEAUTIFUL KUBU

Kubu village has great dives sites to explore, which are stealing the hearts of many divers. It is probably Bali’s best kept secret at the moment.

Some of the dive sites in Kubu are easy and perfect for beginners while other dive sites will require a higher dive certification. Diving in Kubu starts in shallow coral gardens, proceeding down along nice slopes filled with marine life. Kubu dive sites are great for muck diving with different kind of nudibranchs, shrimps, crabs and many other amazing critters.

Batu Ringgit

Batu Ringgit (Pura Grombong) is found right after Kubu, about 6 km from the center of Tulamben. Located just off the main road along a small dirt track, this lesser known site is directly in front of the temple of Pura Grombong. Entry is made from the big grey pebbles at the shore, which can make both the entry and the exit a little tricky for some divers.

Batu Ringgit is an excellent macro dive site.

Monkey Reef

Very nice and relaxed diving spot around 10 minutes away from Bali Dive Reosrt and Spa. Kubu is a small town but is quickly making a name for itself as a new diving destination. Monkey reef is a beautiful coral reef with excellent coral fields, wide variety of fish and marine life. Sometimes there can be a bit of current, but never pose a real problem.
Monkey Reef is a good alternative if you would like to do a relaxing dive without many divers around.
Don’t forget your camera!

Boga Wreck

Boga Wreck was a Dutch built cargo ship used by the Indonesian government. She was purposely sunk in 2012 in order to offer more diving opportunities in the area. The Wreck is about 40 meters long and she sits perpendicular to the beach on a sandy slope between 18 and 36 meters of depth. The wreck is easily penetrable as long as divers have good buoyancy control and the required training. You can often spot batfish, barracudas and turtles swimming along the wreck. Don't forget to also keep your eyes open for cool macro stuff, like leaf scorpion fish and nudibranchs.

Remember to keep track on your no decompression time!

Kubu Reef

Kubu Reef is located close to the Boga Wreck and we often combine these two dives sites in one day trip.

The dive starts from the shore, where we can find some sunken bicycles and motorbikes right off the beach, which were purposely sunken there to attract marine life. These bikes are awesome for some fun photo shooting at the end of the dive, before the safety stop.

When moving towards south, we will reach a huge artificial reef covered with gorgonian fans, soft corals and fish schools. On the way to the artificial reef, we will pass large coral rocks and bommies, covered with both corals and a variety of marine life.

Keep your eyes open for leaf scorpion fish, garden eels, blue spotted stingrays and occasional medium size fish like giant trevallies, turtles and eagle rays.

Secret Garden

Our best kept secret at the moment! Secret Garden offers a beautiful reef with variety of marine life. Turtles and moray eels are often spotted here, as well as many kinds of shrimps and nudibranches.

This dive site is suitable for all level of divers and only reachable by boat. We depart with a local ‘Jukung’ boat from the beach right in the front of our resort and the view from the boat will be outstanding. Secret Garden is located quite far from Bali Dive Resort and Spa and the trip there normally takes about 15 min.

Please note that an extra surcharge will apply for visiting this dive site, but it will be well worth it.
