Eco Dive Resort Bali | 3 Simple Ways We Protect the Ocean
May 15, 2026
As an eco dive resort in Bali, the ocean gives us everything: unforgettable encounters, vibrant coral reefs, and a deep sense of connection to nature. At our dive resort in Tulamben, protecting the underwater world is not a marketing slogan, it is something we actively practice every single day.
As a PADI 5-Star Eco Dive Resort, we believe sustainability should be practical, transparent, and easy for our guests to take part in. You do not need big gestures to make a difference. Small, thoughtful choices, made consistently, can have a real impact. This philosophy is at the heart of eco-friendly diving in Bali, where everyday decisions help protect coral reefs and marine life.
Here are three simple but meaningful ways we help protect the environment, and how you automatically become part of it when you dive with us.
1. Reef-Safe Sunscreen: Protecting Corals Starts on Your Skin
Many people do not realize that regular sunscreen can harm coral reefs. Common ingredients such as oxybenzone and octinoxate have been linked to coral bleaching, coral DNA damage, and disruption of marine ecosystems, even in very small concentrations.
In popular dive destinations like Bali, sunscreen pollution adds up quickly.
That is why we only sell reef-safe sunscreen in our dive shop. These sunscreens are:
Free from reef-damaging chemicals
Safer for coral reefs and marine life
Effective for strong tropical sun
Better for your skin and the ocean
We strongly encourage all divers and snorkelers to use reef-safe sunscreen during their stay. If you forget to bring your own, no problem, we make it easy to choose a reef-friendly alternative on-site.
These actions reflect our long-term commitment as an eco dive resort in Bali, especially in heavily dived areas such as Tulamben and the USAT Liberty Wreck.
2. Reef-Friendly Mask Defog: Clear Vision Without Pollution
A clear mask is essential for an enjoyable dive, but many traditional defog products contain chemicals that are released directly into the ocean.
To reduce this impact, we use and sell Sea Clear Solutions, a reef-safe and biodegradable mask defog designed specifically for divers and snorkelers who care about the environment.
Sea Clear’s defog solution:
Is non-toxic and reef friendly
Contains no harmful chemicals
Is safe for marine life
Works reliably, even on long dives
Because mask defog enters the water immediately, switching to a reef-safe option has an instant positive effect. It is a small change, but when used by many divers every day, it significantly reduces chemical exposure on coral reefs.
This is a great example of how eco-friendly diving Bali does not mean sacrificing comfort or performance. You still enjoy crystal-clear vision—just without harming the reef below.
3. Recycling Old Wetsuits Into New Life (Locally Made)
Wetsuits are made from neoprene, a durable material that does not biodegrade. When old wetsuits are thrown away, they often end up in landfills or contribute to long-term waste.
Instead of discarding ours, we chose a more sustainable approach.
We recycle our old wetsuits into useful dive accessories, including:
Neoprene beer coolers
Neoprene mask straps
All of these items are locally made, supporting local craftsmanship while reducing waste at the same time.
This initiative helps us:
Reduce neoprene waste
Extend the life of existing materials
Support local production instead of importing new goods
Create practical souvenirs with a meaningful story
Every recycled product represents one less item of waste and one more step toward a sustainable dive resort in Bali.
Eco-Friendly Diving Bali Starts With Small Choices
Protecting the ocean does not require perfection. It starts with better choices, made consistently.
By promoting reef-safe sunscreen, choosing biodegradable dive products, and recycling materials locally, we actively reduce our environmental footprint while still offering high-quality diving experiences.
When you dive with us, you are not just exploring Bali’s incredible underwater world, you are helping to protect it.
